A Quiet & A Radical Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving for what is most basic to life is an entry point into the depths of the gift of life in God. Yet we are reminded that all of life’s good gifts are meant to draw us into God’s life and are not ends in and of themselves. When we forget this, we are tempted to worship the creature rather than the Creator. But there is “one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus.” Only in Him can we enjoy the gifts that God has given us even as we come to know that they are meant to be shared with those around us, especially the poor, the least, the disadvantaged. So we unite ourselves to Christ that we might give to God our Great Thanksgiving.
