December 20 2009 (Advent Four): Waiting with Our Lady
Posted December 20th, 2009 by fr. greg
Luke 1:39-56
“Blessed are you among women, blessed is the fruit of your womb. . . and blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.” If John (the Baby!) points to Jesus, Elizabeth points to Mary. We are called to imitate Mary, and indeed Christians throughout the centuries have asked Mary for help in imitating Mary! For Mary leads us to Christ Jesus, the Word made flesh, God’s Promise Fulfilled. And we are made a part of his body that we too might bear the fruit of obedience in us. In these last days of Advent, let’s wait with our Lady, rejoicing in the God who saves us.
