Philippians 3:17-4:1

february-28-2010

Paul calls us to follow his example of living for Christ by reminding us that we are not of this world, but are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven.  How can we live as citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven?  We need to remember who we belong to, learn our heavenly culture, and live in the power of the Holy Spirit as we wait for Jesus to return.  As we live in that way, we become an example for others to follow.

Luke 4:1-13

february-21-2010

After Jesus’ baptism, He stood at a crossroads.  He had a mission, but would He do it His own way, or according to the Father’s will?  That same question stands before all of us.  Will we do things our way, or will we follow in God’s plan with dependence, trust, and obedience?

ash-wednesday-2010

The season of Lent offers us the opportunity to look in the spiritual mirror and recognize where we are with God.  We mark the beginning of this season with ashes pressed upon our foreheads and the reminder that we are dust, and to dust we shall return.  Listen in as we find that these words mean so much more than just a mark of our mortality.

Luke 9:28-36

february-14-2010

On the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus is revealed in glory and the voice of the Father calls Peter, James, and John to listen to Jesus.  In particular, they are to listen to Jesus and discover that the Cross is nothing less than the glory of God and the kind of life all disciples are called to live in following Jesus.

Luke 5:1-11

february-7-2010

Jesus began to preach outside the Synagouge, taking His message and ministry out to the people.  At the shore of the Sea of Galilee, He directs Peter to a catch of fish that leaves Peter willing to abandon the greatest catch of his life to follow Jesus and “catch men alive.”  We, too, are to be those who so know Jesus that we will leave everything in order to catch people for our Savior.
