Lenten Soup Supper
Beyond the Walls of St. Paul's
Wednesdays (March 8 through April 4) at 5:30pm
The focus of our Lenten Soup Suppers this year is the experience of Christian ministry outside the walls and property of St. Paul's. After supper, the presenter—someone with an international mission or domestic outreach ministry—will speak for approximately 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of questions and answers. We will conclude the evening with a 15 minute guided reflection on the topic and Compline.
Our first Lenten Soup Supper speaker is The Rev. Dr. Stephen Mungoma. Fr. Stephen is a Ugandan priest who is now working in Los Angeles and Thousand Oaks. He is a noted international speaker, preacher, and evangelist who will share how his experience as a Christian in Uganda under Idi Amin shaped his life and ministry.
On March 15th, Mr. Louis Gill, Director of the Bakersfield Homeless Shelter, will speak to us about homelessness in Kern County. Mr. Gill will share details about the general problem of homelessness, who the homeless in Bakersfield are, how they came to be homeless, and how we can minister to them.
On March 22nd, The Rev. Dr. Bryson Samboja, a Kenyan priest who recently completed his doctorate at Fuller, will speak about his future ministry to the Muslim community in Kenya.
On March 29th, The Rev. Angelo Frazier, a chaplain at the Bakersfield Rescue Mission, will speak about the ministry of the Mission.
On April 4th, several St. Paul's parishioners will speak about their ministry Beyond the Walls of St. Paul's.
