Softball at St. Paul's
Welcome to Softball at St. Paul's 2006
St. Paul's
is in its fourth year of taking
part in the Bakersfield Christian Softball League. This
is a coed recreational league for adults and youth aged
13 and above. After three years with two teams, we are
unifying for 2006, and will only have a single team.
This will be easier to manage, and will hopefully
increase the fellowship aspects of softball for our
parish.
The season starts with a practice game on April 24. The regular season then goes through the end of June, followed by three post-season games in July.
The goals of Softball at St. Paul's are fun and fellowship. Anyone is welcome to play regardless of skill level. Contact Brad Swanlund (834-0150) for more information.
Player Stats
There are stats
available from 2001 to the present.
See who have been our big hitters, or who shows the most
consistency. Or just see how a certain player has
progressed over the years.
Some notes on our stats:
- I am using a new software package to track stats this year. In transfering the data over to the new system, I only transfered active players (players that I expect will participate to some extent this year). Inactive players may be added at a later time.
- Errors are not accounted for in our scorekeeping. The batting average is basically just an on base percentage, as every time a batter makes it on base he or she is credited with a hit. Extra base hits (doubles, etc.) are also counted without regard to errors.
- Some of our stats are not complete. Several games are missing from the 2005 season. Also, RBIs were not included in the 2001 season, and doubles and triples were not included until the 2004 season (so the slugging averages are inaccurate prior to 2004).

How I coach
This section is certainly not required reading. Most will likely find it boring, but if you want to know how I decide who plays and who sits, read on.

Christian Softball League Rules
Our players should be familiar with the Christian Softball League's rules. Please read them over and talk to Brad if you have any questions. The League follows standard baseball/softball rules other than what is layed out in the League rules.
