The Parable of the Prodigal Son is really about the love of a father with two lost sons. As the parable unfolds, we are meant to be overwhelmed by the Amazing Grace and love of our Heavenly Father even as we are challenged to be like Him and never cease seeking out the lost, that they, too, might be caught in the embrace of the Father’s gracious love.

Moses encounters the Burning Bush. Arrested by God’s glory and hearing the Lord’s voice, Moses receives the revelation of God’s Name. God’s identity is forever tied to Israel and to Jesus Christ. We can only know God as we become a part of God’s people, knowing what God has done in the past and how he promises to be with us in the future. During Lent, we are called to be those branches pruned in order to blaze forth with the glory, truth, grace, and love of God yet not be consumed.

Paul calls us to follow his example of living for Christ by reminding us that we are not of this world, but are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven. How can we live as citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven? We need to remember who we belong to, learn our heavenly culture, and live in the power of the Holy Spirit as we wait for Jesus to return. As we live in that way, we become an example for others to follow.

After Jesus’ baptism, He stood at a crossroads. He had a mission, but would He do it His own way, or according to the Father’s will? That same question stands before all of us. Will we do things our way, or will we follow in God’s plan with dependence, trust, and obedience?
