The Order of St. Luke
The Order of St. Luke began as a Christian fellowship of clergy and lay people interested in sharing experiences of Jesus' healing ministry in 1955 with the Rev. John Gayner Banks and his wife Ethel Tulloch Banks. They shared a dream of drawing all those involved in the healing ministry under the umbrella of a world Christen healing fellowship based on the four Gospels of Jesus Christ. The Order is now international, and St. Paul's chapter is growing rapidly, meeting with the congregation after each service on Sunday.
Christian healing in the church, and at St. Paul's is experiencing a great revival. We believe that healing is a powerful way to advance Christianity in our community. We believe that God's healing power operates within the church as the body of Christ on earth.
Because God works through human channels to do His healing, we must make ourselves fit and willing channels for this work. We do this, in part, through daily prayer, and using the Lord's Prayer as a simple effective way to center ourselves in Christ. Members are also encouraged to attend communion often, to frequently read the New Testament, and to study the miraculous works of Christ.
Finally, the members of the Order seek to strengthen and encourage one another and their community, to build the Kingdom and make disciples of all people. Please call Steve Karcher if you are interested in St. Paul's healing ministry (331-6933).
