Adult Bible Study (ABS)
Fr. Karl teaches the Adult Bible Study. It meets weekly in two venues, on Sunday mornings between the 8 and 10am Holy Eucharist services (approximately 9:15-9:50am), and on Thursday mornings from 11:05-12noon. Both groups meet in the Parish Forum. These are expositional teachings of the Scriptures. What this means is that we start at the beginning of a book of the Bible and week by week, verse by verse, work our way through the text, looking first at what it meant for the original readers and then applying its message to us in today’s world. While it is primarily a teaching format, there is time for questions, group comments, and lively interaction. We are presently studying the New Testament book, The Letter to the Hebrews. Other books studied in the past are Acts, The Gospel of Matthew, St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans, and the Minor Prophets of the Old Testament. We enjoy new comers and you can join in our study at any time.
New Member’s and Inquirers Class
At least once a year, and more frequently if needed, a New Member’s/Adult Inquirer’s Class is offered. The course, taught usually by the Rector, provides a basic introduction to our Anglican heritage, covering our Church’s worship, history, faith, and practice.
Alpha
Alpha is ten-week opportunity to explore the validity and relevance of the Christian faith. It is a practical introduction to the basics of Christianity centered around a meal, a talk, and a small group gathering. Talk titles include: Who is Jesus? Why did Jesus Die? Why and How do I Pray? What About the Holy Spirit?
